Parkies Pals and the 25K Wye Valley Challenge – August 11th 2018
On Saturday 11th August 2018 Parkies Pals, Ann, Anita, Helen, Janet, Lindsey, Sarah and myself took part in the 25K Wye valley Challenge from Chepstow to Monmouth to raise awareness of Parkinson’s and raise funds for Parkinson’s UK.
Weather conditions were ideal starting with a cool breeze and sunshine and ending with light drizzly rain which held off until the last 2K and was quite refreshing at that stage! It was a fantastic team effort as we were reduced to my slow parkies pace at times but thanks to medication, motivation and incredible team planning we crossed the line together after 7 hours. My dad was there to greet us which was really special and we had been receiving messages of encouragement and support for the entire route which were much appreciated.
It was definitely a challenging terrain with ‘ups’ and ‘downs’ but with breaks as required, water on tap, great conversations and even singing at times this team of incredible Pals ensured we stayed on track and finished together still smiling!
Completely overwhelmed by the support of everyone and for the most generous donations to our Justgiving Team page. Our team total raised over £3300.Thank you to everyone for support, together we can raise awareness and find a cure for Parkinson’s
